This show featured a big surprise: the live debut of Lucifer’s Hands, from the second disc of the deluxe edition of Songs Of Innocence. Beforehand, Bono said that “we want to do something that we’ve never played before, because it’s good to do things you haven’t done before. If it goes wrong, blame it on The Edge.” Interestingly, on the printed set Volcano – which has only appeared twice on tour – was listed rather than Lucifer’s Hands. This is the 39th song U2 have performed so far on the Innocence + Experience Tour; counting the Roxy show as well, it is the 41st song U2 have played in the last month (U2gigs.com).
