I had been dreaming of coming to Japan to see U2 after being inspired after continuously listening to the Tokyo Vertigo Tour bootleg (November 29, 2006). I also wanted to come back to Tokyo to see the Japanese friends I made when I visited back in 2015. There was a bit of a buzz in the air prior to the show because U2 had indicated a ‘major’ announcement that would be made during the show. It was a bit disappointing to learn that a U2 Sirius X Radio station would be started up. Some thought a new song or EP would be released, but instead, a North American paid radio station was revealed… in Japan (didn’t make much sense for the crowd). In any event, I was able to get some good photos up front and enjoyed the show with my friends nearby. The Saitama Super Arena was a great venue – small and intimate, with a very loud crowd singing along.
