Location: South-side, front crease
After walking her through the different albums and live concerts, this was Nathania’s first U2 show ever! We had a perfect spot to watch the concert. After being the first person in on the south-side of the floor, I saved her a spot where the front stage and catwalk meet, so that she can get as close to Edge and Bono. As with all of the nights in New York, U2 had a great show. U2 covered Satellite Of Love for the first time since December 10 1993, in honour of Lou Reed. Similar to the ZooTV Tour, the performance featured some recorded Reed footage and vocals of him on the big screen. The special guest tonight was Paul Simon (from Queens, New York) who performed his song Mother And Child Reunion with Bono. The most awkward moment of the night was before Elevation, in which Bono handed the microphone to Alyssa, the woman who called 911 after his bicycle accident in November 2014. She proceeded to lecture Bono and insult the New York crowd by insinuating that New Yorkers were unhelpful to people in need. The printed set list had I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For as the last song but One was performed instead. Most likely saving it for Bruce Springsteen to sing the next night. After the show, a few of us fans went back to our favourite near-by Irish bar Tír na Nóg for drinks, singing, and dancing.
